PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SECTION INCLUDES
- Ornamental aluminum fabricated columns, including base, capitals,
and required installation plates, fasteners and clips.

1.02 SUBMITTALS
- Product Data: Submit manufacturer's specifications and installation
instructions for all components of each product type specified.
- Shop Drawings: Show complete layout, fabrication and installation
details.
- Samples: 12 inch long section of column, with selected base
and capital sections. Samples are to be submitted with specified
finish.
***SAMPLESARENORMALLY NOT REQUIRED BUT CAN BE MADE AVAILABLE WHEN
NECESSARY FOR PARTICULAR PROJECTS. SPECIFIER SHOULD NOT REQUEST
THEM UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. ***
1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Manufacturer/Installer Qualifications:
1. Provide column components from one source, produced by craftsmen
having resources to provide consistent quality in appearance and
physical properties, without delaying the work.
2. Perform installations using a firm with installers having
no less than ( ),(1) (2) years of successful experience.

DELETED ON NEGOTIATED CONTRACTS WHEN INVITED INSTALLERS ARE KNOWN

- Field Measurements: When schedules allow without delaying work,
verify dimensions by field measurement at actual installation
locations at the construction site prior to fabricating columns
at the factory.

1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
- Deliver columns and related components in manufacturer's original
unopened packages, clearly labeled.
- Store components to avoid damage from moisture and other construction
activities.
- Handle components to prevent damage to surfaces and to prevent
distortion and other physical damage.

2.01 MANUFACTURER

2.03 MATERIALS AND FABRICATION
- Columns of ASTM B209, extruded 6063 aluminum alloy.
- Finish:
1. Provide factory baked-on powder coat finish.
2. Color: (White) (Alabaster) (Biscuit) (Brown) (Clay).

- Provide factory prime coat finish for final painting in field.
- Fabricate columns and related components accurately to indicated
dimensions.
- Fabricate all components from materials selected for their
surface smoothness, and freedom from visible blemishes. Do not
use materials with seam or roller marks, trade names, or exposed
pitting.
- Shear and punch metals cleanly and accurately. Remove burrs.
- Form exposed joints flush, smooth and even.
- Use concealed fasteners wherever necessary.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION
- Examine substrate and conditions under which columns are to
be installed. Installer to notify Contractor in writing of unsatisfactory
conditions.
- Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions
have been corrected in a acceptable manner.
3.02 PREPARATION

REQUIRED TO MEET SPECIFIC PROJECT CONDITIONS. ***
- Prepare surrounding construction to receive aluminum column
installations to comply with column manufacturer's requirements.
- Provide a scratch resistant work surface at the project site
for unpacking, assembling and preparing columns and related
components for installation.
- Verify required column dimensions by actual field measurements.
3.03 INSTALLATION
- Install columns and related components in strict accordance
with manufacturer's written installation instructions and Project
shop drawings.
- Adjust, level and securely install column, capital and base
components.
- Where aluminum might come into contact with concrete, masonry
or other metals, separate materials to prevent electrolytic
action by means of an asphaltic paint or other approved method.
*** KEEP 3. FOLOWING WHEN SPLIT COMPONENTS ARE REQUIRED ON
THE PROJECT. ***
- Adjust and securely install columns, capitals and bases at
designated locations.
- At completion of installations, clean exposed columns and related
component surfaces with appropriate cleaners so as not to damage
finishes.
- Provide adequate protection for all surfaces of completed
installations to prevent damage during remainder of construction
activities.
